About Bindu Shankar     Bindu Shankar graduated with a Diploma and P.G. Diploma in Bharata Natyam from Kalakshetra Foundation in Chennai, India. She performed her arangetram at Kalakshetra under the tutelage of her Guru Smt. Sarada Hoffman. At Kalakshetra, Bindu has also trained under Sri. M.R. Krishnamurthi, Sri. Balagopal, Smt. N.S. Jayalakshmi, and Smt. Krishnaveni Lakshmanan.   Bindu is a Ph.D in Art History from the Ohio State University, Columbus, OH. She pursued her dissertation research on dance imagery in South Indian temples and studied the relationship between the temple tradition and the dance tradition through the 108- karana sculptural program.   In the twenty years of dance training and instruction, Bindu has given recitals, lecture demonstrations and received awards: at the Festival of India in the former Soviet Union (1987); Tamil Nadu State Art Academy (1988- 89); The Ohio State University (1993& 94); Dallas Museum of Art (2002-2004); Winner of Telly Award (2006 &2004); Stanford University (2006); NDEO Annual Conference (2006); Fusion Pleasanton (2007); and also, Co-Curate of TEXAS COLLECTS ASIA art exhibition at Crow Collection of Asian Art(2008).   Bindu has also helped organize community events, sponsored artistes from India, and donated to organizations supporting upcoming dancers.     The Vrindavan Team   Vidya Subramanian   Vidya performed her arangetram in 2013 after training at Vrindavan for over 7 years. She has supervised beginner, Intermediate, and senior level students. She currently teaches Beginner and Intermediate level batches. Vidya is also active in the performance division of the academy.     Madhu Katragadda   Madhu performed her arangetram in 2013 after undergoing more than 7 years of training at Vrindavan. She has supervised Intermediate and Senior level students. Currently, she is teaching Beginner and Intermediate level batches. Madhu is also active in the performance division of the academy.     Selvi Mohanraj   Selvi completed her Certificate of Course Completion in Bharata Natyam at Vrindavan after training for 8 years in 2014. She has been teaching Beginner and Intermediate level batches. She is also active in the performance division of the academy.      Priya Ramachandran Doss   Priya Doss is Vrindavan's Parent Coordinator. She communicates with parents on general guidelines, announcements and advises on organizational matters. Priya trained at Vrindavan for a few years before being part of the performance division of the academy.   Punam Sinha   Punam is Vrindavan's Arangetram Advisor. She guides the parents of arangetram graduates through the lengthy process of an arangetram.   Hema Jaganathan   Hema has joined as a part-time Arangetram Advisor. She also guides the parents of arangetram graduates through the lengthy process of an arangetram.   Kavita Muralidharan   Kavita is an expert in Photo-shoot and Arangetram costuming. Kavita handles all hair settings, jewelry placement and costume presentation during Vrindavan arangetrams and annual recitals.   Aju Sahota   Aju is professional grade makeup artist who specializes in Bharata Natyam makeup. She has been the go-to makeup person at Vrindavan since our inception.   Diya Menon   Diya Menon is an Advanced level student who has been training at Vrindavan for over eight years. Currently a Senior at High School, she has been a Teaching Assistant at Vrindavan for over 2 years. She also volunteers her time to assist with teaching items to upper- level students.   Shriya Havangi   Shriya is an Advanced level student training with us for over eight years. She is scheduled to perform her arangetram in February 2023. Shriya has been a Teaching Assistant for over two years at Vrindavan.   Sahasra Dayal   Sahasra is an Advanced level student who has been training at Vrindavan for eight years. She has been a Teaching Assistant at Vrindavan for 2 years. Sahasra also volunteers her time to assist teaching items to Upper- level students.   Daksha Chandragiri   Daksha is an Advanced level student who has trained at Vrindavan for seven years. She has been a Teaching Assistant at Vrindavan for over 2 years. Daksha is scheduled to perform her arangetram in June 2023.   Saesha Ray   Saesha is an Advanced level student who has trained at Vrindavan for over eight years. She is starting her TA training this year (2023). Saesha is scheduled to perform her arangetram in July 2023.   Niraja Bhaskar   Niraja is an Advanced level student who has trained at Vrindavan for over eight years. She is starting her TA training this year (2023).   Kriti Sriram   Kriti is an Advanced level student who has trained at Vrindavan for over five years. She is starting her TA training this year (2023). Kriti is scheduled to perform her arangetram in July 2023.   Srinitha Sridharan   Srinitha is an Advanced level student who has trained at Vrindavan for around two years. She had her prior training in Bharata Natyam in San Jose, CA. Srinitha is starting her TA training this year (2023).   Anya Iyer   Anya is an Advanced level student who has trained at Vrindavan for around two years. She had her prior training in Bharata Natyam in San Jose, CA. Anya is starting her TA training this year (2023).
